February 10th, 2013

  • We met with Addy's teachers this week for Parent Teacher Conference. She is doing extremely well! Reading level just keeps going up and she is doing great in Chinese. She has also matured a lot these last couple of months we were told.
  • I am glad she is maturing at school because this is mainly what I see around our house! This is totally Addy. Goofy, silly, and loud! Love her!

  • This week I was nominated as the next school year's PTA secretary on the executive board. Not sure what this means as of now but I like the women I've met through PTA and so I think it will be a really good thing.
  • I've been playing church basketball every Thursday evening for the past month. I really do like it and I really like the women that I play with. It also reminds me I'm not getting any younger:) My body is slow to move some days!
  • Friday night Todd and I went on a date. We hadn't really gone out since our Anniversary so we were ready for some time together! Josie came over to babysit (which the kids requested, of course!) and we headed up the The Cheesecake Factory. So Yummy! and I loved spending some quiet, one on one time with Todd. He is definitely the man for me:) Hooray for date nights!

  • Saturday, while I was working my regular six hour shift Todd calls me wondering what to do with the kids....he's such a great dad and took them all swimming for about 3 hours. Luckily they were all tired out just about the time I got off work. We spent a quiet Saturday night at home.
  • Sunday we invited Chris and Cathy over for a turkey dinner. It was nice to spend time with them and after they left we had a game night. Addy always beats me at Yahtzee!

February 3rd, 2013

  • Addy's school celebrated Chinese New Year this week. I was lucky enough to volunteer for their class party to celebrate the holiday. I helped in the food/story room. They got to try  some traditional chinese food and learn about the Chinese calender and the animals associated with each year. (Addy was of course one of the few kids that liked the chinese food...she loves fancy food:) I really enjoy seeing Addy in her element at school and how she interacts with the other kids.
  • The school also celebrated the '100th Day of School' this week. The kids were invited to dress up as if they were 100 years old. This is Addy on her way to school! She kind of put the ensemble together herself:) She loved walking around with Grandpa Bassett's cane he got in Germany.
  • The girls just couldn't take it anymore and they had to go outside to roller skate. Addy has been dying to skate since these were her Christmas present. The sidewalks were finally a little clear so off they went.

  • On Tuesday night Todd was asked to come into the Stake President's office. He was sure he was going to be called as the Stake Dog Catcher but no...Todd was asked if he would serve as an assistant Ward Clerk. He enjoys this calling so he's happy about it:)
  • Todd was also able to take a concealed weapons class at work. He's been wanting to do this for a while so he was excited to take the class. Now we're just waiting for the official certificate in the mail.
  • On Friday night I was able to to have a Girls Night with the ladies from the U. I seriously love all these awesome women. We met up at the Blue Iguana in Salt Lake and talked for hours. Two of them have had babies since I had last seen them so it was fun to meet their precious little ones. These ladies are the only reason I miss living at the U:)
  • While I was at my GNO Todd stopped by his parents and the girls ended up spending the night over there. The next day they informed me how fun it is at Grandma and Grandpa's house since they let them do whatever they want. Hahaha! They watched movies, ate treats and even went to the donut shop the next morning. Those girls have got Grandpa wrapped around their little finger.
  • When Todd walked into his parent's house the next morning this is what he found and this is exactly why I love my father-in-law so much! He was putting the girls' hair into pony tails using the vacuum cleaner! He would put the rubber band around the hose, suck up the hair and then stick the band around their hair that was all sucked up! Seriously cracking me up! The funniest part was that Addy asked me to do her hair like that the next day!

  •  Saturday while I was working (and sick as a dog at work) and the girls were at the grandparents, Todd took Bodee to Home Depot for the free kid workshop. They built me a little Valentines mailbox. It is so cute and Bodee was so proud of himself. He even got himself a little Home Depot apron. Adorable!
  • Here are Daddy and son reading scriptures together. Love both of these boys!

  • Today was the Superbowl! Even though I didn't really care for either team we headed over the Chris and Cathy's for the party. Todd watched the games, the kids played with cousins, and I talked to Kate for most of the night! Nice Sunday evening.
  • My favorite line from Brynn this week:
Brynn: You let me sit in a booster before I was 4 years old.
Me:      Yes, I did. You were almost 4 and you were begging for it.
Brynn:  You didn't respect the law, mom!
           Me:       Ummmmm....

           5 minutes later:
Me:      Thanks for obeying me Brynn. (When she was doing what I asked.)
           Brynn;  I respect my parents.

January 27th, 2013

  • Monday night for Family Home Evening we played 'Duck Duck Goose' and 'London Bridges'. This was our first real attempt with Bodee. He loved it! It was so cute seeing him play games with our family. I love when he giggles really hard:)
  • This week at Girl Scouts we worked on our World Thinking Day display. We picked the country of Italy to learn about. In February we will meet with 100 other Girl Scouts and teach others about Italy while we learn about the countries the other troops picked.

  • Brynn finished Itty Bitty Ball this week. She was kinda bummed since she really enjoyed it.
  •  I love these funny, silly kids:)

  • On Saturday, Todd took Bodee to the Monster Truck show! Grandpa and Grant went with them. Todd said it was super loud but they had a great time! Bodee did well for the first half but was more distracted the second half. (As to be expected with a two year old). I was so glad they got to have some male bonding time.

  • While Todd took Bodee to the Monster Trucks I picked the girls up from Cathy after I finished work and took the girls swimming. Seriously, one of their favorite things to do! I am glad to know that even though they haven't had swimming lessons in a while, they haven't forgotten too much. They really are the best of friends. Every girl needs a sister!

January 20th, 2013

  • Addy ended up getting sick this week. Brynn or Bodee must have passed it on. I always feel so bad for my kids when they have the stomach flu. They are miserable but I can't take it away.
  • It was week two of Itty Bitty Ball for Brynn. She really loves it and it pretty good at basketball. I guess all that practicing with her sister is paying off.

  • It's embarrassing to admit but I finally organized the office downstairs and unpacked the boxes in there. It's only been 4-5 months:) It took a long time but it's pretty much done and and I feel so much better not having to worry about it anymore.
  • Bodee is all about dressing himself. Here is example of his style. I do love this age when they are so independent yet it's not all figured out yet.

January 13th, 2013

  • This was one of those weeks that seemed really busy but nothing big happened.
  • The reason I felt busy was between carpool, working again (after having three weeks off), and both Bodee and Brynn getting the 24 hour flu which = laundry, it felt long.
  • Addy reads really well and she is always so sweet and reads to her brother and sister all the time. Here she is reading the story of Peter Pan to Bodee. His favorite part about Peter Pan is Captain Hook.
  • Love our little Girl Scout Troop. Here are the girls making snowmen out of donuts and decorating them.
  •  I had to work for six hours on Saturday so Todd had the kids all day. After work we went out to dinner at the Hibachi House and while I came home with the kids Todd went to his Dad's house to watch football.
  • Sunday, Todd's parents came over for dinner. We always enjoy spending time with them:)

January 6th, 2013

  • 2013! I love a when the new year comes. Fresh start, goals, etc. Always a chance to be a better person. Todd and I are really looking forward to this coming year.
  • Bassett Family Theme for 2013: SERVICE
  • Basset Family Scripture: 2 Nephi 31:20
    • Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
  • On New Year's Eve Day we took the kids ice skating down in Provo at the Seven Peaks Arena. The girls have been asking to go for a while so they were super excited. I thought Bodee would hate it but he really loved it. All the kids had a great time. The girls went on their own from the minute we stepped out on the ice. Bodee needed help of course but luckily they have little walkers for kids and he was able to do that on his own for a while. It was a wonderful family activity.

  • On New Year's Eve we had a nice family dinner where we talked about our family theme and how we can serve others this year. We then had a family toast with grape juice to the new year and Todd lit fireworks and let the kids play with sparklers. (We realized we are not exciting New Year's Eve people...maybe next year:)
  • Chris called on New Year's Day morning and told us we were all going out to Bryan and Suzie's to take the kids on the sled tied to the back of the 4-Wheeler. We bundled up the kids and off we went. Hogan had already made a track around their property so Todd just took the kids around and around. They couldn't get enough of it and we happy when their cousins came out to join them. After a few hours Bodee was done but the girls stayed all afternoon since more cousins were heading over.

  •  Bodee had to help Grandpa and Dad fill up the 4-Wheeler with gas. He's all about hanging with the boys.
  • After 4-Wheeling all day Grandpa still wasn't finished. He decided to have a movie night over at his house. Dustin and Kate's family and our family ended up partying all night at Grandma and Grandpa's:) The kids had the best time and will always remember what a great day they had with Grandma and Grandpa Bassett.
  • Todd had been off since the Saturday before Christmas. We loved having him around since he had never had that much time off during the holidays but I think by January 2nd he was ready to get back to work:) We were sad that real life had to start again.
  • The following picture is just another typical day at the Bassett house. They dog pile all the time!
  • On Saturday we finally made our way over to Scheels. It a giant new store in Draper. It's like Cabelas on steroids. In the center of the store there is a ferris wheel. Ya, pretty much mandatory to ride if you have kids. After an hour wait we made it on. But seriously, with Bodee's giant smile and non-stop giggling it was completely worth it. He loved every second on the ride. After we got off the ferris wheel...he barely made it out of the store alive since he wouldn't stop crying and screaming that he wanted to ride again. Seriously?!? Some days...
  • Addy told Todd not to put her in the DLC. Addy, what's the DLC? The Disneyland Crusher! (I really love that she has started using acronyms:)
  • Brynn told me the other day, "I don't like Barney. All he does is sing, teach you things, and dance. That's why I don't like Barney."
  • Bodee started tell us "I love you" all by himself. It seriously melts my heart!

December 30th, 2012

  • Monday brought Todd's 35th Birthday, Christmas Eve, and a huge snowstorm! Todd spent the morning shopping with Addy and then they came back and picked up the rest of us to eat a late lunch at Tepanyaki! That's what the Birthday Boy wanted for the Birthday meal. The kids love the "fire" part and Bodee thought it was extra cool. He kept saying "More big fire!"

  • Christmas Eve we read of Christ's birth in the scriptures and the Night Before Christmas, decorated cookies for Santa, got our stockings ready, sang carols and let the kids open two presents. Todd had picked out a soccer goal for the back yard for the kids so they opened that and the movie Brave. We watched Brave until 10pm that night. It was a lovely Christmas Eve with the snow falling outside.
  • Christmas morning was so much fun. This year all three kids were ready for the magic of Santa and presents. Santa brought the kids three presents each and Todd and I got them a few extra things (new games and books mostly). Santa brought Addy; dangle earrings, pogo stick, the game Operation. Brynn; twin baby dolls, double doll stroller, camera. Bodee;  Woody, Buzz Lightyear, train tracks.

  • After opening presents, breakfast, and playing, playing, playing, we took the kids sledding. It really was an old fashioned Christmas! Bodee couldn't get enough of the sled and the girls were brave enough to go off the jump that had been built.

  • Christmas night Todd's parents came by on their way back from St. George. We had  dinner and then since we forgot to sing to Todd and eat the cake the night before we made up for it on Christmas Night.

  • Wednesday was Todd and my 7th Anniversary! I can honestly say each year gets better and easier. It's fun to look back and see how far we've come in all aspects of our lives. We went out on a lunch date to Zupas and then ran a few errands. Nothing fancy but it was nice to have some time together to appreciate our special day.

  •  Wednesday night we took the kids to the movie "Wreck-It Ralph". Movie theaters do not happen very often in our family so the kids were really excited! Bodee did so well throughout the entire movie.
  • Since the snow didn't stop all week long Todd took the kids sledding again on Thursday. Friday we met up with our friends the Tongis and Fifitas at the pool and on Saturday the girls and I attended 'Aisea's baptism. Busy week but it was great to have Todd home for the holidays.
