October 21st, 2012

  • Monday was still Fall Break and the girls were looking for something to do. They had been asking to have a lemonade stand all summer but I always put it off so I asked if they wanted to have a bake sale? "YES! YES! YES!" I baked some brownies and a large batch of my awesome chocolate chip cookies and they did the rest. They charged 25 cents per cookie/brownie and worked their little booth for about three hours. They made $16.00! You go girls! (I love Addy's sign with her cute writing!)

  • After their bake sale the girls got to go to the driving range with their dad and Aunt Amy for a little golf practice. They really love this sport!
  • The rest of the week was oh so busy with just being busy. The girls went to the dentist (no cavities:), I worked both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and I gave blood on Thursday night with all three kiddos in tow. Friday night we met up with the grandparents and Uncle Milo for dinner at Chick-Fil-A and Saturday morning we had family pictures taken and the girls had their last soccer game for the fall season.
  • Addy fell off both the monkey bars and the swings on Wednesday and hurt her arm pretty bad. After a couple of days it was still hurting and she was favoring it so I took her in to the doctor and yep, it's broken! She was given a brace for the weekend and we have to go back in on Monday and get it set in a cast. First broken bone for the Bassett kids! Ahhh!
  • Saturday evening Grandma Bassett had her famous Halloween Party! Yea! It was a blast like always and the kids couldn't get enough. I sure loving living close to such amazing family:)
  • Brynn and Jane were unplanned twinners! I guess Spider Girl is the "in" thing now!

  • Wow! That's a lot of grandkids (with some neighbors mixed in)!

  • Bodee woke up this morning and told us "I don't want to go to church". Um, I don't think so...get use to it kid:)

October 14th, 2012

  • Todd headed to Las Vegas this week so I was flying solo around the house. Wednesday night we headed to the pool. Barely anybody was there so the kids had free reign to play. Bodee must have jumped off the edge at least a BILLION times.
  • On Thursday and Friday this week we had Fall Break from school. On Thursday I took the kids to the aquarium with our passes. We got there just in time for the Otter Feeding and it really was fun to watch as the otters tried to find all the fish left out for them to eat. Bodee was pretty cute watching the otters and penguins.
  • Thursday night the kids were so good and sat through two hours of me playing stake volleyball at the church. The last game ended at 9pm and they were getting antsy so I told them they have been so good I"ll take them to Kneaders for a little treat after we were done since there was no school on Friday. Brynn tried to negotiate and asked if we could to go Chuck E. Cheese's instead? All the women were cracking up at her request and I had to inform her that would not be happening that night. After volleyball we drove over to Kneaders with Bodee yelling "Rock and Roll, Baby!" that he had learned from his sisters. All the kids picked out their favorite treat (Addy: cheesecake, Brynn: caramel apple, Bodee: pumpkin sugar cookie) and we have a fun night out giggling and making a good memory.
  • Todd got home late Friday night so on Saturday we took the kids to the pumpkin patch. There were other fun things to do there as well so the kids really enjoyed themselves. Here are some of the highlights.

  • We got Bodee his first tie. Seriously, is this kid a stud or what?? LOVE HIM!

  • Other exciting news??? I got a job! I am the Assistant Recreation Coordinator for our city. It averages 5-10 hours per week so not too time demanding. I had my first day on Thursday were we put together the teams for 1st-4th grade rec basketball. I think I'm going to like it:)
  • Brynn moment: Completely bawling after I informed her "No, Santa will not be bringing you your own iPad or cell phone this Christmas". "Fine," she replied, "I'll just ask for a credit card!" Really? Really? She can't only be four:)

October 7th, 2012

This week was MARATHON week! Wahoo!
  • On Tuesday the kids and I met up with Aunt Sari at her Orem houses (aka the Hampton Inn) to go swimming. Of course, the kids loved it. Afterwards we went to IHOP for dinner.
  • On Thursday, after an Activity Days scavenger hunt, which was quite a success, the kids and I met up with Aunt Sarah again to watch Brave. Finally it came to the dollar theater and it was a great little movie! Late Thursday night Sarah and I headed to the airport to pick up Gerren.
  • Friday morning was busy getting everything ready to head down to St. George and included running for about 15 minutes to loosen up our muscles. After a LONG drive down to St. George us ladies ate dinner at The Pizza Factory and then were in bed early.
  • We were up at 3am on Saturday morning to load onto the buses and head up the canyon. Us three girls started without Julaine and ran together for the first seven miles. I loved running with my sisters (and peeing my pants at mile 5) but by mile seven when we reached the big hill of Veyo I was able to pull ahead because of all my hill training. I felt good until the very end when I called Todd at mile 24 and told him how hard it was. He encouraged me and helped me make it to the end and I finished in...3:55:41!!!! A PR by almost an hour and 1:30:00 and 1:40:00 faster than my previous two St. George marathons! Wow...it's amazing how training works so well:)
  • Sarah left early Sunday morning and Gerren left on Monday afternoon. It was wonderful to spend time with these amazing ladies...I'm a lucky girl to have such great big sisters who I can have so much fun with.
  • The four of us at the finish (Julaine, Gerren, me, and Sarah)

  • The Mosley ladies at our best!

  • Todd was sweet to drive down and be there for me at the finish line. Thanks babe!

  • Chris and Cathy were great and offered to drive Addy and Brynn down to St. George for the weekend. The girls had THE BEST weekend with their cousins and with their really cool grandparents. (Especially with their Grandpa who stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home and bought them Halloween pjs, pillows, socks, movies, and candy:)

September 30th, 2012

  • This was one of those weeks where I felt really busy...just not doing big important things. Hmm, guess that's pretty much my life for the next 18 years:)
  • It was "Minimal Monday" at school and that meant Addy was out by 12:30pm. I decided to take the kids up to Salt Lake City so Addy could drop off the donations her GIrl Scout Troop bought to give to Primary Children's Hospital. It was a good service/learning experience for the kids to visit Primary Children's again.
  • We also stopped by and visited our friends at the U Housing for a couple of hours. I seriously love the ladies that live there and while I don't miss the apartment, I do miss spending time with all those awesome ladies.
  • Tuesday the school held a parent meeting for all the kids in the Chinese program. They showed a tape of the kids in Chinese class. It was amazing to see them learning and participating in a lesson with no English spoken. I am super proud of Addy and how well she has adapted to this immersion program.
  • This is what my kids do when we go to the dollar store and pick up FBI gear. Handcuffs and toy guns. At least it kept them busy for a couple of hours.

  • Thursday was our first Girl Scout troop meeting for the new year. Yay! We are excited for the new girls that have joined our troop and now that I understand how it all works a little better it should be great year.
  • On Friday family was invited to the school for recess and lunch. Very cool for Brynn and fun for me to see Addy with her classmates.
  • Friday night Todd and I went on a date thanks to our babysitting swap. We walked around the Harvest Festival and Farmer's Market at Thanksgiving Point and then grabbed a bite to eat at JCW's. With life so busy and three little kids I really appreciate any alone time I get to spend with my husband. He's a pretty good guy:)

  • After lots of chores on Saturday and two soccer games where Addy saved the ball as goalie and Brynn scored two goals I was able to attend the Relief Society Broadcast. There is always something said in this broadcast that I need to hear and can make my life better. President Eyring reminded me to serve others more. Serve the women in my ward as much as I can.
  • Sunday was special because Aunt Sarah came to visit! She brought with her goodies from Carlo's Bakery. This bakery is located in Hoboken, NJ and is featured on the show "Cake Boss". They make amazing cakes on the show and my kids love watching what they create. Sarah brought with her a chocolate cake and a type of pastry called a lobster tail. SO YUMMY! The kids loved spending the evening with their Aunt and showing her all the cool things they can do and say.

September 23rd, 2012

  • This week was all about recovering from Disneyland, unpacking, and cleaning. It really was not very exciting.
  • Brynn fell and got a REALLY fat lip. I don't think the picture does it justice:)
  • When we moved in we just shoved everything into the garage so on Saturday it was time to clean the garage all out. I swear, no less than 40 cars stopped by to look at our garage sale...REALLY? I guess our stuff is just wanted commodity. Bodee liked hanging out in the bike trailer while we cleaned. He sat in there for a long time and was happy as long as he had snacks in there with him.

  • Our other big adventure this week was repainting some of our furniture. We had never done this but we found a tutorial and realized it wasn't so bad. Todd is the one who actually repainted it and he did fantastic! On the after pictures you can see we need to paint the knobs on the white dresser (we're just waiting to match them with the color we paint the girl's room) and we need to put cool new knobs on the black dresser for Bodee's room.

  • My grandma, Beverly Pinch turned 90 years old on Saturday! Wow! She still lives independently and is social and involved in the community. There are many things I admire about my grandma and I hope to live a long life like her someday.
