June 10th, 2012

  • This week we started getting into a new routine now that it's summer vacation. We organized the boring stuff...chores, reading time, learning time, and started doing the fun things too!
  • We bought a Lehi Outdoor Pool pass and went swimming on Monday since it was almost 100 degrees. We met up with Elizabeth, Sea, and Matai and Addy and Sea even climbed the rock wall over the water.
  • From Wednesday to Friday Addy and the rest of our Girl Scout Troop attended Day Camp with the theme "Camp Rocks". They had a blast and all of them were sad it ended on Friday. I was lucky enough to be the adult leader on Wednesday and spend time with the girls at camp. It was fun for all of them to be together but also be with 100 other Girl Scouts from our area. They learned dances, made up skits, made jewelry, sand art, went on a hike, learned about rocks, and made tambourines.
  • I was shocked that they were served Little Caesars Pizza for lunch the first day, Chick Fil-A the second day, and Texas Road House the third day. Lucky Girls! What happened to hot dogs and tinfoil dinners? I'm just glad they had so much fun! It was worth selling all those cookies for these fun memories.

  • The whole troop except for Jayda. We were sad she couldn't make it. Kennley, Addy, Alyssa, Clara, Paige, Emma.

  • On Thursday night Todd came home a little early from work (7:30pm) YAY! and so we went over to Gene Harvey Chevrolet where they were having a car show for oldie cars. It really was fun to look at all of them. My favorites were the '57 Bel Air and the oldie car that had a rumble seat...my personal favorite!
  • Friday evening we met up with the Ross family at the outdoor pool. Brynn got really brave and jumped off the HIGH DIVE! I'm a little scared when I go up that high but Todd promised her ice cream if she'd jump off and three seconds later she did! We couldn't believe it! Brynn earned her treat that night and she wouldn't let any of her siblings join her because she earned that herself.
  • Saturday was beautiful outside so we took a family bike ride. It was nice not to bring the bike trailer along this time. Since Brynn can't ride THAT far we drove to some of the offices outside Thanksgiving Point and rode our bikes from there. Bodee was in a bike seat on the back of my bike and was in heaven since he loves to ride on the back of my bike. Brynn rode all the way up the hills and when got to Thanksgiving Point the kids chose Blue Moon Bubblegum ice cream. (One of my favorites from childhood.) It really was a nice family outing.
  • Just so I don't forget...Bodee loves to play rough, he's such a boy! He really likes to play rough with his dad but when he dad isn't around he'll go for his sisters. On Saturday night he started pulling Brynn's hair and laughing. Of course Brynn starts bawling. She gets so mad she kicks him down on the bed with both feet. Bodee just laughs and gets up to go get her again. I see this happening so I pin Bodee down and tell him to "be nice to Brynn" he tells me "K". I then tell him again he needs to be nice but then he just gives me this huge grin which in turns causes me to start laughing. This boy is too funny! These girls better watch out:)
  • Bodee also LOVES gum. He asks for it a dozen times a day. He really is responsible with it. When he's done with it he either gives it to me or puts it in the garbage. He just loves to chew it all day long. I hope this is just a phase.

June 3rd, 2012

What a fun and crazy week for the Bassetts!
  • On Sunday evening we went over to Mom and Dad Bassett's house to hang out. We decided to watch Band of Brothers in honor of Memorial Day the following day. We put the kids to bed and the put on the movie in Grandpa's personal theater. We watched the first two episodes and then Todd and I went home with Bodee and we let the girls stay the night. They were so excited to wake up the next morning (very early, sorry Grandma and Grandpa:) and find out Mom and Dad were gone!
  • We went back over the next morning, got the girls ready and headed out for our annual Memorial Day cemetery visits. I really love this annual tradition! It means so much to us and it is a great example for our kids to learn about our country, our veterans and that Memorial Day is more than a day off school and work.
  • The girls were so happy their cousins Jane and Grant were there this year. Addy and Jane ended up getting lost but once they were found all was well. Here are some cute pictures of the cousins together.

  • This little boy LOVES his Grandpa and Grandma!

  • My wonderful husband and kids! My whole world:)

  • After our Memorial Day cemetery visits we made a stop at McDonalds. This picture made me giggle cause I just looked over and Bodee was sitting in Ronald's lap!

  • On the way home we stopped and bought Addy a new bike...finally! She had been waiting for a new bike for over a year. It is a 20 inch bike with gears. I'll get a picture of her riding it in the future.
  • When we got home that afternoon Brynn wanted to continue riding her "new" two wheeler. I was trying to teach her how to push off herself and not have Mom or Dad push her on the bike to get started. She was getting really frustrated and sad so I asked her if she wanted to take a break? She said "NO! I want to do this! I can do this!" And that little stubborn girl figured it out! I never realized how stubborn she really is until that moment. I was so proud of her for not giving up!
  • We met up with all the Bassetts later that evening for a BBQ. I really appreciate having such great family close by. It's always fun to get together!
  • On Wednesday, Addy performed at her school Dance Festival! The kindergartners performed a line dance and it was super cute. Addy was so happy that Dad went in late to work so he could come watch.

  • Thursday, May 31st was the last day of school. For a whole 45 minutes! I love this smart, wonderful, funny, and sassy girl! I'm so proud of her for doing so well this year. She is reading like CRAZY! (She can read chapter books already.) She was in the advanced math and science group. She counts money, tells time, and can work the computer pretty darn well, and loves to make art and crafts. (She has also become quite the 'know it all', but I'm dealing with that, ha!) Welcome to First Grade, Adalyn!

  • Addy and Ms. Mueller. She was one amazing teacher. I loved how she continually pushed Addy to do better.

  • Thursday evening Todd and I went on a date to dinner and to the Draper Temple. It was my first time to the Draper Temple and it was beautiful. We performed sealings and I just have to say I am so grateful for my eternal companion, I really loved kneeling across the alter from Todd and hearing the same words from the day we were sealed many years ago. Thanks for always taking care of me, Todd! I love you!
  • Addy and Brynn have been taking swimming lessons for two months and they have come so far! I don't have great pictures but I have to update their progress. Addy can do the front stroke WITH the proper side breathing. She did almost a whole length of the lap pool with this stroke. She did a whole length of the lap pool with the back stroke and has started working on the breast stroke kick! GO ADDY! Brynn can float really well and flip over from floating to front stroke and back again. She is working on straight leg kicks and big arms on her front stroke. GO BRYNN! Elizabeth is one amazing teacher.
  • This is Addy swimming the front stroke.

  • Saturday was the Dirty Dash. It was a lot more fun than last year since it was way muddier and had better obstacles but it was SO crowded. First I ran the 5K then I joined the kids for a one mile Piglet Plunge. Brynn was all about the running, which really impressed me.

  • Todd took this cute shot of Brynn cruising' on her two wheeler! She's getting so big!

May 27th, 2012

  • It was really hot out this week and the kids were dying to play outside in the sprinklers!

  • Brynn graduated from Preschool Pals on Thursday! YAY! It was fun to be able to teach my own child again for their first preschool year.
  • Here Brynn is with her good friend Aliya.

  • The preschool class. Aliya, Brynn, Siena, Simeon, and Eli. (Eli was having none of the picture taking:)

  • We were at Grandma Bassett's house on Thursday and Brynn decided she wanted to try and ride one of the little bikes at Grandma's house that didn't have any training wheels on it. We started practicing and she picked it up fast! When we got home she begged her dad to take off the training wheels on her own bike. With a little starting push she was riding up and down the sidewalk. She's only three years old! Go Brynn!
