June 9th, 2013

  • Mom Bassett was watching Todd's brother's kids this past weekend and on Monday was wondering if I would take the older kids to Hike the "Y" down in Provo while she watched the younger kids and took them to....wait for it....McDonalds! (Since that's where she always takes them:) I ended up taking Taylor, Sammie, Bella, and Addy with me. It was a hot day and a short but steep hike. They all made it to the top and we celebrated with some lunch and ice cream from the BYU Creamery. Yummy! (Addy and I both love the cherry cordial and cherry nut divinity flavors...we're the same!) It was fun to hang out with my nieces and nephew for a day.

  • Tuesday we also met up with Grandma Bassett and the cousins at Nepture Park to play and afterwards grandma even let my kids come over for a bit while I went grocery shopping. Shopping along was so much easier!
  • While I was cleaning the garage the other day Bodee found this giant tape measure and pulled the WHOLE THING OUT! It kept him very entertained but winding it back up was a pain! He is such a two year old boy!
  • Bodee has become obsessed with the neighbor's cat. He really loves it. We had to take it warm milk the other day. He follows it around, pets it, and tries to play with it. After a while it runs away from him and he gets so sad. Hate to break it to him that we're NEVER getting a cat!
  • Since it's already be so hot this summer the kids have gone swimming a few times already. We are all just loving the warm weather! Friday night we met Dad at the pool after work, grabbed a bite to eat and then went shopping at The Home Depot.
  • Saturday we spent the day doing chores around the yard and home getting ready for Dane to move in with us. We can't wait for him to come! It felt good to be so productive and get things done around the house. Dad Bassett came over in the afternoon to help Todd fix one of our toilets that hasn't been flushing very well the past couple of weeks. You guessed it!...Bodee flushed a foam paint brush down the toilet. That's our boy! Neither of our girls had ever flushed anything like that down the toilet so I really didn't think it could have been him. I should never underestimate that kid!
  • Bodee talks crazy good now and is always cracking us up. He is obsessed with superheros and pretty much that's his main subject of conversation. He plays pretty well with his sisters and they dote on him every minute. He still loves to whine or scream if he doesn't get his way but luckily breaks out a smile a minute later most of the time. He is also starting to dance pretty well by shaking his hips and which of course is adorable.
  • The other day I was helping Bodee change his clothes and he said "one minute I have to tell Chicken something." I said "what do you have to tell her?" He replied "that I'm naked!" He runs into the girls room all naked, they scream, then he runs back. Yep, this went on about 10 times til I finally stopped him.
  • I hear him calling my name and I ask him what he needs. He tells me "I need to give you a hug!" Love him!
  • We were going through all the sounds animals make. I ask him what Bodee says. He told me "Superheros!"
  • It pretty much boils down to: I never knew I could love a little boy so much:)

June 2nd, 2013

  • Monday was Memorial Day. We got up early, dressed in red, white, and blue and headed over to Camp Williams for their Memorial Day Services. We really want the kids to understand the meaning of this holiday weekend even if it's only for an hour or two.

  • After Camp Williams we had to make a stop at The Maverik gas station to buy 'chill pipes'. The night before Grandpa Bassett introduced our kids to these nifty little straws that are aluminum so it gets really cold with a cold drink. The kids just HAD to have them and wouldn't let it drop. Seriously? The things we do for our kids.
  • We then hit up Subway for lunch and headed to the outlet malls for new swimsuits for the girls. It ended up being a nice day with the family.
  • Tuesday was cold and rainy and also the day for the Riverview Dance Festival at Addy's school so it had to be held indoors. Addy insisted on having her hair down so she could whip it around as they danced to "Rockin' Robin". It was super cute!
  • Wednesday was Brynn's preschool graduation! She was so super cute and SO excited for her special day. They say songs for us and then each presented a memorized nursery rhyme. Brynn presented 'Jack and Jill'. Miss Kim, her teacher gave each student a word to describe them and she chose "friendly" for Brynn. She said Brynn was one of the most popular kids and every kid always wanted to sit by Brynn. Love my little Brynn!

  • Brynn and her teacher Miss Kim.
  • After her graduation I picked up the Tongi boys and took Addy out of school for lunch and took the kids to McDonalds because that's where Brynn picked to celebrate her graduation lunch. All the kids get along so well:) Afterwards they all played at our house.

  •  Thursday was Addy's last day of school! I can't believe she completed 1st grade already. Time goes by so very fast. She did terrific this year. Ahead in reading and math. Understands a lot of Chinese and definitely matured socially.

  •  Addy with her teachers. Mrs. Ackerson (Chinese) and Mrs. Helm (English).

  •  Brynn's last day of preschool was actually last Friday but I forgot to post it last week. She's officially in kindergarten! Go Brynn!

  •  I have been talking to Bodee about potty training for a last couple of months but I haven't pushed it too much. I did tell him that if he went potty I would take him to Chuck E. Cheese. Well, Friday he went potty! Wahoo! And after telling me "I did it! I did it!" He said. "Now I go to Chuck E. Cheese!" So Friday afternoon I took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese, bought a few tokens and let them go crazy! He really does love that place.
  • Earlier in the week Grandma Bassett had promised our kids a sleepover this weekend when she'd already be watching some of the cousin. So Friday night the kids went over to Grandma Bassett's house for what turned into a all cousin sleepover. The kids had a great time and Todd and I got to go on a date.
  • Saturday was the last day of soccer. Happy to get our Saturdays back but sad that soccer is over.
  • Brynn with her friends Zach and Jack:)
  • Addy's team with me as the coach. We lost one game but won all the rest! Addy even scored again in this last game.
  •  Addy with her friend Emma.
