January 6th, 2013

  • 2013! I love a when the new year comes. Fresh start, goals, etc. Always a chance to be a better person. Todd and I are really looking forward to this coming year.
  • Bassett Family Theme for 2013: SERVICE
  • Basset Family Scripture: 2 Nephi 31:20
    • Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
  • On New Year's Eve Day we took the kids ice skating down in Provo at the Seven Peaks Arena. The girls have been asking to go for a while so they were super excited. I thought Bodee would hate it but he really loved it. All the kids had a great time. The girls went on their own from the minute we stepped out on the ice. Bodee needed help of course but luckily they have little walkers for kids and he was able to do that on his own for a while. It was a wonderful family activity.

  • On New Year's Eve we had a nice family dinner where we talked about our family theme and how we can serve others this year. We then had a family toast with grape juice to the new year and Todd lit fireworks and let the kids play with sparklers. (We realized we are not exciting New Year's Eve people...maybe next year:)
  • Chris called on New Year's Day morning and told us we were all going out to Bryan and Suzie's to take the kids on the sled tied to the back of the 4-Wheeler. We bundled up the kids and off we went. Hogan had already made a track around their property so Todd just took the kids around and around. They couldn't get enough of it and we happy when their cousins came out to join them. After a few hours Bodee was done but the girls stayed all afternoon since more cousins were heading over.

  •  Bodee had to help Grandpa and Dad fill up the 4-Wheeler with gas. He's all about hanging with the boys.
  • After 4-Wheeling all day Grandpa still wasn't finished. He decided to have a movie night over at his house. Dustin and Kate's family and our family ended up partying all night at Grandma and Grandpa's:) The kids had the best time and will always remember what a great day they had with Grandma and Grandpa Bassett.
  • Todd had been off since the Saturday before Christmas. We loved having him around since he had never had that much time off during the holidays but I think by January 2nd he was ready to get back to work:) We were sad that real life had to start again.
  • The following picture is just another typical day at the Bassett house. They dog pile all the time!
  • On Saturday we finally made our way over to Scheels. It a giant new store in Draper. It's like Cabelas on steroids. In the center of the store there is a ferris wheel. Ya, pretty much mandatory to ride if you have kids. After an hour wait we made it on. But seriously, with Bodee's giant smile and non-stop giggling it was completely worth it. He loved every second on the ride. After we got off the ferris wheel...he barely made it out of the store alive since he wouldn't stop crying and screaming that he wanted to ride again. Seriously?!? Some days...
  • Addy told Todd not to put her in the DLC. Addy, what's the DLC? The Disneyland Crusher! (I really love that she has started using acronyms:)
  • Brynn told me the other day, "I don't like Barney. All he does is sing, teach you things, and dance. That's why I don't like Barney."
  • Bodee started tell us "I love you" all by himself. It seriously melts my heart!
