August 12th, 2012

With summer wrapping up we have been trying to fit in as much fun as we can!

  • The kids just can't get enough of Dad. Every night they wait, and wait, for Dad to walk in the door. As soon as he does they all run screaming to get a hug. It's wonderful to see how much they all love their Dad.

  • Todd came home one night this week and took Addy to play golf for a few minutes before the sun went down. They only got to play two holes but this was Addy's first time to actually play the course and not just hit at the driving range.  Todd said she did great. She four putted one green and two putted the other green. Her drives were about 75 yards! The best part is she loves the sport!

  • Early this week Addy lost her other front tooth. Cute gaps!

  • Tuesday was $2 Tuesdays at Thanksgiving Point. We hadn't been to the dinosaur museum for a few years so I took the kids. Of course it was crazy busy but the kids loved seeing the huge dinosaur bones and skeletons. It was fun to do something different and they really liked the area where they could dig the dinosaur bones out of the sand.

  • On Thursday I packed the kids up to visit this cool park I've heard about in Cedar Hills. When we got there the creek was all dried up and our fun afternoon of splashing in the creek was gone. Instead I headed up to Salt Lake City for the afternoon. First we stopped at an Italian bakery called Carlucci's. Our family has been obsessed with the television show Cake Boss the last few months and the girls have been wanting to try some Italian goodies. We tried a cannoli, a napoleon, and a chocolate decadence. The kids had fun and our tummies were happy. Afterwards we walked around the Salt Lake Temple. I love taking the kids to visit the temple. I know they are able to feel the spirit just by being reverent around the grounds.

  • The kids were sitting on the edge of one of the fountains when before I could catch him,  Bodee fell in! It really was funny (even though he wasn't happy:) and luckily it was 95 degrees out so he dried off quickly.

  • After visiting the Temple grounds we headed over the the Gateway Mall to play in the splash pad. The girls had a great time but Bodee wasn't having any of it. I think he was still mad from falling in the fountain. Every time he edged his way towards the water pop-ups, he would run back to me.

  • Friday was a really special and fun day for me. Earlier in the summer I had babysat a friend's kids for her while she did a big house project. I was finally able to use her babysitting services to watch Bodee while I took Addy and Brynn school shopping. I hadn't taken the girls shopping in forever so we were all excited to go.We stopped for a quick lunch first and then headed over to The Children's Place at the mall because I had a couple of great coupons to use there. We came out with heavy bags and lots of cute clothes! I loved spending all that quality time with my girls. They sure a some fun people to hang out with.
  • Friday evening was Cousin Camp, courtesy of Cathy Bassett:) We all met up at the outdoor Lehi pool and then headed back to Grandma and Grandpa Bassett's for pizza and treats. Saturday morning brought a big breakfast, a huge parachute and a candy filled pinata.
  • Saturday evening Todd and I were able to take the kids to our neighbor's house for our babysitting swap. We had originally planned on going golfing for the evening but we switched our plans and went to Home Depot instead to look at flooring and paint colors,  etc...for when we move back into our house. Spending time at Home Depot without kids was totally worth the sacrifice for skipping golf. We ended our date by splitting a "romantic" meal at the Hibachi House.
