April 27th, 2014

  • This week was crazy busy. We had things going on every night but were also preparing to leave Friday for vacation. Any mom knows that taking a family on vacation is a major undertaking, especially since I like the house perfectly clean when I leave. It is so much better to come home to a clean house.
  • Monday night Addy had her spring piano recital. The spring recital is always a classical piece. Sister Hafen (her piano teacher) had her play Blue Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss II. She had it memorized and played so well. I am proud of how hard she has worked at piano this year and how far she has come.

  • Tuesday night was swimming and soccer games. Wednesday was the Girls Camp Stake Certification night. Thursday night was Brynn's Kindergarten Performance. SO ADORABLE! (She had to go right from swim team to the performance so that's why her hair is not super fancy:) They sang some of the cutest songs like Tony Chestnut, 50 Nifty States, A You're Adorable (with Principal Beckstrand), I've Been Working on My Costume. Grandma Bassett came to watch and Brynn had a really special night.

  • Brynn's teacher Mrs. Cowley with both of her kindergarten classes.
  • Love this girl:)

  • Wednesday night Bodee woke up with a fever. After some medicine he woke up for the day seeming okay. Later that afternoon he started feeling sick again and said his throat hurt. Immediately I thought of strep throat because of the fever although none of my kiddos have ever had strep before. So after swim team we stopped by Kate's house and used her at-home strep test and it came back positive! Of course this was the day before we left for vacation so right after Brynn's program  Bodee and I ran over to instacare while Todd took the girls and his dad out to dinner to celebrate Brynn. The doctor was nice enough to write an extra prescription in case one of the girls got sick on vacation. After instacare and waiting for the prescription Bodee was just asking me if he could go to bed! Sweet little sick boy! Days where Bodee is down are few and far between so it's always weird when he just wants to lay on the couch and snooze. Luckily Bodee felt better by Saturday morning and none of the kids got sick on vacation.

April 20th, 2014

  • Monday we got to babysit Sulia on Monday since my friend Elizabeth had to work. Brynn was so happy to help watch Sulia. She really loves babies and is going to make a terrific babysitter one day.
  • After ten months of being in Utah and Idaho, Dane left me on Wednesday night to head back to Virginia. I have loved having him close and getting to know my adult younger brother. I'll miss having all his goofiness around...since he's a Mosley we just get our weirdness:) Favorite memories of Dane: I make it rain sheep in the club like baaaaa; singing the Willy Wonka song, in fact any falsetto, shave ice, and his weird eating habits. Love this guy and I know he's going to do some great things in the next few years. My kiddos are also so sad he's gone since they all love Uncle Dane:)
  • On Wednesday night we took Dane and Megan (his girlfriend had just flown in earlier in the afternoon) out to dinner. In the car Bodee started telling me I was 'predictable' but it comes out 'dictable'. We sure were laughing a whole lot because Todd has plenty of responses to that! It was pretty funny! (He got the word predictable from Spector in the Minion Rush game...really?)
  • Todd took his dad's 4-Wheeler last weekend because it needed something fixed so once it got it going fine he has been taking our kids on rides. They LOVE it and ask to go early in the morning right when they wake up. He has dropped Addy off to school on it and even called me to pick up the kids because they drove over to Eagle Mountain and it was too dark for them to drive it back home with him. It makes Todd REALLY want his own..hmmm.
  • Saturday Todd ran a 5k and I ran a 10k with our friends Merri and Wes. Merri came in first for the whole race and I came in second!!! All of our hard work running pays off. (Okay, I'll admit it was a really small race but still, I got a pretty good time, for me:)

  • Obviously my Garmin came in a tad short from the official race 6.2 miles. But still, my best 10k time. (Which is funny because this was only my second 10k)
  • Since it was the city's Easter Celebration Merri and I though we'd better get a bunny picture:) Plus, we had lots of time to spare while waiting or the awards to start.
  • Saturday was the start of spring soccer!! Wahoo! Brynn did super and scored a goal! I am coaching Addy's team again (I tried to coach Brynn's this time but I was switched since they were low on 2nd grade coaches). Since I was coaching I never got a picture of Addy this week. Love watching my kids do well at sports!
  • Saturday night we got ready of Easter and I finally put the girls' hair in the curlers they got for Christmas that can be used for either their salon doll or their own hair. They are super easy to use and I was wondering how they would turn out. They worked and had adorable curls the next day. Especially Brynn's since she had tighter curlers.
  • The Easter Bunny came Saturday night. The girls got new knee, elbow, and wrist guards for their bikes and roller blades as well as some cash. Bodee got a Star Wars sticker book and two new pairs of pjs. Batman and Superman.  Easter wasn't too crazy this year (although I try not to let it get out of hand any year) because on Friday the kids are going to get a pretty great surprise!
  • Playing with their new bubbles on Sunday morning.
  • All dressed up in their new Easter dresses. So sweet and adorable!
  •  Todd had already changed out of this Sunday clothes so he missed out on the family Easter picture!
  • For the first time all three kids are in Primary and they all got to go sing the "Hosanna" song in sacrament. Bodee was super adorable and cute up on the stand waving to us.
  • I so love these little dudes!
  • Since I didn't take the kids to any of the community egg hunts I put on our own hunt in the yard after church. They got plenty of candy!

  • Dying eggs with Dad and only make a tiny bit of a mess!
  • Sunday evening we were invited over the Mom and Dad Bassett's house for Easter dinner and Amy and Milo were there! So glad to see them. We love them so much. Dustin came with his kids too so there was lots of cousin time.
  • So Bodee is at that super cute three year old stage. (Most of the time:) He says super funny things, uses his hands when he talks (totally a Mosley), tattles on his sisters all the time but they still love his guts, loves Star Wars, super heroes, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show, riding his bike, tells me "I'm in charge and I'm the man of the house" (since Todd tells him this when he leaves), can buckle himself up in the car then tells me "I'm a big boy", asks 'why?' all the time, keeps on bugging you until you either answer him or even if you do answer him he'll keep on asking and really loves treats! He is a fun one and Todd and I always talk about how happy we are that he is part of our family. Lucky, lucky us!

April 13th, 2014

  • My last post was my 200th post on my blog! That's a lot of posts and pictures shared. It is all worth the effort when I can look in the blog book I print out each year and remember all the good memories and see how much the kids have grown.
  • This week was Spring Break! Wahoo! We were so excited to have a week off of schedules and school.
  • Monday morning Bodee and I each got a hair cut. Bodee was ready to go for the faux hawk..seriously adorable but he calls it his "Shark Boy haircut" and it matches the shark tooth around his neck he never takes off:)
  • After hair cuts we drove down to Orem and the girls got their free Krispy Kreme donuts for their great report cards. After that I picked up new 72 hour kit food. I finally just bought MREs instead of replacing packaged food every six months. Life just got a bit easier.
  • After Orem we headed to Thanksgiving Point to use the pass we just bought. I never thought a pass was worth it since the new Children's Museum is opening up there in May I knew we would use it all the time. Monday was the dinosaur museum. It really wasn't busy which surprise me since it was spring break.

  • On Tuesday we headed back over the Thanksgiving Point to visit Farm Country. We met up with Marci, Emma, and Zach Bargeron. It was a great afternoon and the weather was perfect.

  • We got ready early on Wednesday and drove up to the zoo so we got there right when it opened. The kids hadn't been to the zoo in over a year and Wendy's had a buy one get one free so it was actually a pretty cheap day. (Can you see the elephants in the background?)

  •  We even got to see a sea lion show. It was so fun to watch.

  • I have never see the tiger so close to the glass before, or so animated. Very cool!
  •  After the zoo we stopped by the mall and visited the Lego store. Bodee had really been wanted to see it so he was super pumped when he got to look around. He loved the Star Wars Lego sets  but of course they were over $300.00 so not this time. I did let him pick out a little Spiderman car that was part of the Lego junior collection. I just learned about the junior collection and it's perfect for his age. The girls then picked out something cool at Claire's and we had lunch and headed home.
  • Uncle Dane come to our house late Wednesday night so Thursday we actually just hung around the house and ran errands although the girls did beg to put on a lemonade stand. Cute little ladies.
  • Thursday night Dane and I decided to relive our childhood and made Wookie Cookies and Yoda Soda for the kiddos. They were a hit! We didn't actually watch Star Wars though...Dane hadn't seen Frozen yet so we had to show him that movie of course:)

  •  Saturday morning our niece and cousin Bella was baptized. I actually never got any pictures of Bella (sad) but she was so pretty and the baptism was wonderful. I always love how mostly everybody in Todd's family is supportive and happy for each other's exciting life moments. It makes life fun to share with others.
  • After the baptism luncheon cousin Chrislyn came to play and all the kids worked hard on making cake walk cards for the family Easter Party later that afternoon.
  •  Easter Party time! Lots of eggs, pizza, candy, games, and of course Grandma's famous fish pond! We all had such a good time!

Sophia, Zoey, and Bodee. Cute kiddos:)

  •  This year we had a few new games like badminton and sack races, and yes, Todd beat me at a sack race:)
  • On Sunday Todd drove down to Provo to be there while his cousin Eli was ordained an Elder. Afterwards he and his dad got a call that his brother's truck broke down in Nephi so they headed down there for a rescue. Bodee had driven with Todd so he played at his great-aunt Terri's house for a couple of hours with Grandma until I got to Orem to pick him up. It was kind of a crazy Sunday but life is always crazy I'm learning!

April 6th, 2014

  • My dear friend Elizabeth's dad, Dennis passed away last week so Monday night we went over for his viewing. He fought a hard battle with cancer and our hearts go out to their entire family.
  • On Tuesday morning Todd and I attended his funeral. That night Addy played and I coached her last indoor soccer game. We had a good little team this season. Addy learned indoor moves much faster and it forces you to gain better footwork skills.

  • Tuesday was also April Fools' Day.  This is not my favorite thing to celebrate but I did put food coloring in the bottom of the cereal bowls in the morning so when the milk was poured in it turned the milk crazy colors. Brynn and Dad tried to trick me by covering Brynn's face with ketchup and saying Bodee hit her! Too bad she couldn't quite keep a straight face although for a second there I did panic!
  • Brynn started swim team with the Lehi Frenzy this week. This first week was swim camp so it was two hours every day. (Usually she only practices twice a week for 45 minutes). Here she is being introduced to the team on her first day. (Can you see her standing between the two coaches?)
  • On Friday, the last day of swim camp Brynn participated in a mock swim team meet. Although she is not the competition team yet it was good for her to see what a meet was all about. We got there and she was warming up with the others and I thought, "Does she even know what she's suppose to do?" So I ran to the pool and explained this was a race and she had to swim as fast as she could across the pool. She was signed up for two events. 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke. Brynn did great and for being so young kept up with the others. She was excited to see both Todd and Grandma Bassett in the stands cheering her on!
  • The first picture is what they wrote on her arm so she knows her event, heat, and lane numbers. We have a lot to learn about this whole swimming thing:)

  • Saturday morning we listened to conference and ran some errands. The kids love the car wash because they get to spray the cars with soap from inside.

  • We stopped by home depot and realized it was the kid building day. All the kids built bird feeders. They really are cool. There was a Chinese speaking family at our worktable so Addy talked to them for a bit. Her language skills are so amazing! After building we ran into Todd's parents and hung out with them for a bit, then we did our own shopping. We pretty much spent two hours there!

  • Saturday night Todd went to Priesthood session and dinner with his dad and brothers. The boys just keeping the tradition alive! After Todd got back I headed to a surprise birthday party for one of my friends. The ladies had a mean four square and double dutch competition going on. It was tons of fun! I seriously love the ladies in my ward!
  • Of course this is how we roll during Sunday morning session of conference. Wow...I'm so glad we get so much out of it. Good thing we can read conference in the Ensign:) Actually there were lots of great talks I did get to hear.

  • We headed over to Chris and Cathy's for Sunday afternoon session after a family drive and ended up eating dinner there. Bodee crashed on the way home. Life is just too much fun! I love the legs crossed and the socks over the jeans. (I can't even believe he was willing to wear jeans all of a sudden!)
  • Bodee playing the piano with both his hands and his feet. Talented kiddo!
