March 3rd, 2013

  •  This week we went to the Free Day at Hogle Zoo! This last time we visited the zoo was free day last year so the kids were super excited to go. Since we were there last they opened a whole new area with polar bears and sea lions. It was a pretty cold day but we kept warm with all the walking.
  • Bodee LOVED it all. It was all new to him so he had a great time watching all the animals. He loved the monkeys, elephants, and sea lions the most. It was super cute watching him giggle when the animals would move.
  • Of course we had to take a ride on the carousel!

  • This winter has been busy for us but not necessarily always "fun" busy so it was really nice to spend the afternoon with the kids. (I even took Addy out of school early:) On the way out of Salt Lake we stopped at Trader Joe's for the first time. I sure wish we lived closer to one of those!
  • Saturday was beautiful and a balmy 50 degrees so once I got off work we spent the afternoon outside with the kids while they rode their bikes and Addy got pretty good on her roller blades. She was so excited to finally use her Christmas present!
  • Saturday night we went out to dinner at Cafe Rio. Yummy! I usually share a salad with the girls and I think Addy can eat just as much as me:)
  • Sunday night Todd took the kids over to his parent's house while I spent the evening with my Activity Day girls at Dessert Night, which allows us to track, update and work on their Faith in God awards. I seriously love all these awesome girls I get to spend so much time with.

February 24th, 2013

  • The theme of this week has been PINK EYE! Agh! All three kids. So gross, such a pain, eye drops are the worst. Okay, now I'm done complaining:)
  • Between pink eye, carpool, working, and such, the week just flew by without any really big events.
  • I worked for three hours on Saturday morning and cut my day short so I could help Marci (my Girl Scout co-leader) with the Girl Scout Cookies that had just come in that morning. After that we went straight to American Fork with our troop for World Thinking Day. I am so sad I forgot to take pictures but it was super cute. The girls loved it and they learned so much and got tons of SWAPS to take home. It was just adorable and makes me so glad I started this troop for Addy.
  • That being said I was pretty tuckered out by Saturday night so we just hung out at home in the evening.
  • Sunday evening Todd took the girls to his parents for the monthly family dinner. I stayed home with Bodee this month but the girls said they had a super time.
  • A friend of mine was sweet enough to cut some vinyl for me recently. I did a few projects but this one is fun for the kids. It says "I Hope They Call Me on a Mission" and a map of the world. I put stickers in the countries and states that all their aunts/uncles/grandpa served in. They have had fun seeing all the different places and they are learning world geography. Pretty much a win/win!

  • Bodee found this booster at Grandma Bassett's house. Since it has 'Cars' on it he assumes it is his. We've returned it twice but it has since found its way back to our home. Let's hope he won't find it again. He just likes to sit in in. A lot.

February 17th, 2013

  • This week was Valentine's Day! The girls made their own Valentines this year for their friends and family. I punched out big hearts for them and then they wrote "I CHEWS ____ TO BE MY VALENTINE". Then they attached a piece of gum to it. They were pretty cute:) It was fun to make our own Valentines instead of buy them from a store. (I really should have taken a picture:)
  • Brynn had a Valentines Party at her preschool. She made her own Valentines box there. Here she is with her preschool Valentines.
  • Addy also had a class party and I was put in charge of a game. I had the kids play "Matchmaker" in which they had to figure out which character they were given and their character's match. It was pretty funny to watch six year olds play this game but they did great.
  • Valentine's Day Breakfast consisted of our usual heart shaped pink waffles. We also celebrated with our traditional fancy dinner complete with candles that Bodee insisted on blowing out within the first 30 seconds. Todd brought all us girls home roses and we had small presents for each of the kids. Grandma and Grandpa Mosley also sent gifts for the kids to open and Grandma and Grandpa Bassett ding dong ditched us with Valentines and McDonald gift cards. What a fun awesome night!
  •  The girls requested fancy cheesecake for dessert. Kneaders sufficed since I refused to drive up to the Cheesecake Factory. (they know what good cheesecake is:)
  • After dinner we all went downstairs to watch "Up". This is the gift Brynn was given for Valentines that I found for a steal of $4! Cute, cute movie!
  • Addy's half birthday was this weekend so of course on Friday she got to celebrate it at school. Here is she with her treats and her teachers gave her a Sprite!
  • Friday night after I worked for two hours we ate a little KFC and since Chris and Cathy were out of town we headed over to their place to watch TV on the big screen. Todd and I have come to love 'Duck Dynasty'! Seriously, one of the funniest shows on TV. Lucky for us they were having a DD marathon so we watched that while the kids watched a movie upstairs. Todd and I just laughed and laughed! We ended up having a late, late night so we all slept in Saturday morning since I didn't have to work. (President's Day Weekend!)
  • On Saturday Todd took Brynn to get a big girl bike...aka 16 in! She has patiently been waiting since her little bike that been on the outs with a ripped tire since fall. She picked out one cute bike and rides is like a pro! I will always admire Brynn's determination!
  • The weather was pretty decent on Saturday so the kids spent the afternoon riding their bikes.
  • Bodee has finally got the trike thing down. (Except when he has to come uphill. It takes a little bit more muscle then he currently has:) I love that he is wearing a fireman's hat and is riding a purple/pink tricycle.
  •  Just because he's my terribly two stud muffin! I'll keep him!
  • Sunday evening Kate and Dustin were invited to our ward to present a Marriage Fireside. They were amazing and Todd and I came away with lots of good tools to help improve our marriage. It was neat seeing them use their talents in such a positive environment. I really appreciate them as part of our family.

February 10th, 2013

  • We met with Addy's teachers this week for Parent Teacher Conference. She is doing extremely well! Reading level just keeps going up and she is doing great in Chinese. She has also matured a lot these last couple of months we were told.
  • I am glad she is maturing at school because this is mainly what I see around our house! This is totally Addy. Goofy, silly, and loud! Love her!

  • This week I was nominated as the next school year's PTA secretary on the executive board. Not sure what this means as of now but I like the women I've met through PTA and so I think it will be a really good thing.
  • I've been playing church basketball every Thursday evening for the past month. I really do like it and I really like the women that I play with. It also reminds me I'm not getting any younger:) My body is slow to move some days!
  • Friday night Todd and I went on a date. We hadn't really gone out since our Anniversary so we were ready for some time together! Josie came over to babysit (which the kids requested, of course!) and we headed up the The Cheesecake Factory. So Yummy! and I loved spending some quiet, one on one time with Todd. He is definitely the man for me:) Hooray for date nights!

  • Saturday, while I was working my regular six hour shift Todd calls me wondering what to do with the kids....he's such a great dad and took them all swimming for about 3 hours. Luckily they were all tired out just about the time I got off work. We spent a quiet Saturday night at home.
  • Sunday we invited Chris and Cathy over for a turkey dinner. It was nice to spend time with them and after they left we had a game night. Addy always beats me at Yahtzee!

February 3rd, 2013

  • Addy's school celebrated Chinese New Year this week. I was lucky enough to volunteer for their class party to celebrate the holiday. I helped in the food/story room. They got to try  some traditional chinese food and learn about the Chinese calender and the animals associated with each year. (Addy was of course one of the few kids that liked the chinese food...she loves fancy food:) I really enjoy seeing Addy in her element at school and how she interacts with the other kids.
  • The school also celebrated the '100th Day of School' this week. The kids were invited to dress up as if they were 100 years old. This is Addy on her way to school! She kind of put the ensemble together herself:) She loved walking around with Grandpa Bassett's cane he got in Germany.
  • The girls just couldn't take it anymore and they had to go outside to roller skate. Addy has been dying to skate since these were her Christmas present. The sidewalks were finally a little clear so off they went.

  • On Tuesday night Todd was asked to come into the Stake President's office. He was sure he was going to be called as the Stake Dog Catcher but no...Todd was asked if he would serve as an assistant Ward Clerk. He enjoys this calling so he's happy about it:)
  • Todd was also able to take a concealed weapons class at work. He's been wanting to do this for a while so he was excited to take the class. Now we're just waiting for the official certificate in the mail.
  • On Friday night I was able to to have a Girls Night with the ladies from the U. I seriously love all these awesome women. We met up at the Blue Iguana in Salt Lake and talked for hours. Two of them have had babies since I had last seen them so it was fun to meet their precious little ones. These ladies are the only reason I miss living at the U:)
  • While I was at my GNO Todd stopped by his parents and the girls ended up spending the night over there. The next day they informed me how fun it is at Grandma and Grandpa's house since they let them do whatever they want. Hahaha! They watched movies, ate treats and even went to the donut shop the next morning. Those girls have got Grandpa wrapped around their little finger.
  • When Todd walked into his parent's house the next morning this is what he found and this is exactly why I love my father-in-law so much! He was putting the girls' hair into pony tails using the vacuum cleaner! He would put the rubber band around the hose, suck up the hair and then stick the band around their hair that was all sucked up! Seriously cracking me up! The funniest part was that Addy asked me to do her hair like that the next day!

  •  Saturday while I was working (and sick as a dog at work) and the girls were at the grandparents, Todd took Bodee to Home Depot for the free kid workshop. They built me a little Valentines mailbox. It is so cute and Bodee was so proud of himself. He even got himself a little Home Depot apron. Adorable!
  • Here are Daddy and son reading scriptures together. Love both of these boys!

  • Today was the Superbowl! Even though I didn't really care for either team we headed over the Chris and Cathy's for the party. Todd watched the games, the kids played with cousins, and I talked to Kate for most of the night! Nice Sunday evening.
  • My favorite line from Brynn this week:
Brynn: You let me sit in a booster before I was 4 years old.
Me:      Yes, I did. You were almost 4 and you were begging for it.
Brynn:  You didn't respect the law, mom!
           Me:       Ummmmm....

           5 minutes later:
Me:      Thanks for obeying me Brynn. (When she was doing what I asked.)
           Brynn;  I respect my parents.

January 27th, 2013

  • Monday night for Family Home Evening we played 'Duck Duck Goose' and 'London Bridges'. This was our first real attempt with Bodee. He loved it! It was so cute seeing him play games with our family. I love when he giggles really hard:)
  • This week at Girl Scouts we worked on our World Thinking Day display. We picked the country of Italy to learn about. In February we will meet with 100 other Girl Scouts and teach others about Italy while we learn about the countries the other troops picked.

  • Brynn finished Itty Bitty Ball this week. She was kinda bummed since she really enjoyed it.
  •  I love these funny, silly kids:)

  • On Saturday, Todd took Bodee to the Monster Truck show! Grandpa and Grant went with them. Todd said it was super loud but they had a great time! Bodee did well for the first half but was more distracted the second half. (As to be expected with a two year old). I was so glad they got to have some male bonding time.

  • While Todd took Bodee to the Monster Trucks I picked the girls up from Cathy after I finished work and took the girls swimming. Seriously, one of their favorite things to do! I am glad to know that even though they haven't had swimming lessons in a while, they haven't forgotten too much. They really are the best of friends. Every girl needs a sister!

January 20th, 2013

  • Addy ended up getting sick this week. Brynn or Bodee must have passed it on. I always feel so bad for my kids when they have the stomach flu. They are miserable but I can't take it away.
  • It was week two of Itty Bitty Ball for Brynn. She really loves it and it pretty good at basketball. I guess all that practicing with her sister is paying off.

  • It's embarrassing to admit but I finally organized the office downstairs and unpacked the boxes in there. It's only been 4-5 months:) It took a long time but it's pretty much done and and I feel so much better not having to worry about it anymore.
  • Bodee is all about dressing himself. Here is example of his style. I do love this age when they are so independent yet it's not all figured out yet.
