Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Yesterday, our family was able to attend the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House. What a wonderful experience! The Temple is beautiful and it was great to be there with the most important people in my life. I love knowing we are an eternal family and I am grateful for the blessings that are given to our family each day.

Between the two family pictures we all look normal!

Dance Class

For months and months now we have been telling Addy that when she is three years old she can go to dance class! She turns three in August, so last week we went to the dance studio to register her for a 3 yr. old ballet and tap class in the fall. On the way, I explained to her that she would NOT be dancing today but she can watch all the girls practicing in the studio. She was in awe. It got even more exciting when she saw pictures of her cousin Josie and her dance groups on the wall! When it was time to leave Addy started crying. "I want to dance!" "Please Mom, I want to go dance!" It was so cute and sad, all at the same time. Fall seems very far away right now.

Well, two days later I got a phone call from my sister-in-law Suzie. Josie's last dance recital of the year was the next day! It was perfect timing because Addy had been so sad.

Josie is so talented! We LOVED watching her perform. Addy sat through the entire recital and enjoyed every minute of it. I took a picture of Addy and Josie (who was in the cutest costume EVER) but I forgot to save it on my phone and when I got home it was gone :(
We are really looking forward to Addy starting dance!

Last night...the girls and I went with Grandma and Grandpa Bassett to a family night for the Pony Express Days in Eagle Mountain.

Not quite Disneyland but Addy thought meeting Mickey and Minnie was great.
She actually got kind of shy. I think that explains the weird smile!
Addy was having a great time watching the performance.

The Dress

When our family was sealed, I bought Addy a white dress to wear. I love this dress! I think it is so pretty! Last week was beautiful outside so I decided to take the girls up to the Salt Lake Temple and take some pictures of Brynn in the same dress. I love seeing how different they look.

This is Adalyn in April, 2007. She was almost 8 months old.

This is Brynnlee in May, 2009. She is 11 months old.
Here are some other fun pictures from the other day.

Daddy is Home!

Todd had not taken a day of vacation since Brynn was born! Finally, he took Tuesday off so he could have a four day weekend. Of course on Tuesday, when everyone was back at work he was on his phone constantly checking his email but it was wonderful to have him around for a few days. We were planning on taking a mini-vacation but plans fell through so we stayed home. It ended up being nicer, I think. There was plenty of relaxing, nap taking, working in the yard, and just hanging out. Here are some of the fun things we did.

Each day they love each other more and more!
Amy and Milo came over for dinner on Sunday and we made chocolate dipped pretzels. They were a hit! Addy loved putting the sprinkles on!

We went swimming a couple of times at the Legacy Center. They even had the wall up over the weekend so it was both an inside and outside pool. Summer is here! Brynn loved swimming and would kick and kick her little legs.
Addy has no fear of the big slide!
We also went to LIberty Land Fun Park. We were kind of skeptical but it was a BLAST!

Mom and Addy on the "big ship"
The love never ends.
Todd took Addy on a "real" roller coaster. Scared me half to death!

You can't even see Addy because Todd put her in a headlock so she wouldn't fall out!
We thought his ride just smoothly went up to the top and down. Much to our pleasant surprise it jumps. Hence the name 'Frog Hopper'. It was hilarious to watch. I was literally crying I was laughing so hard. Maybe you had to be there but it was funny.
We also went on the bumper boats that evening. It had been a nice day but by that evening it had cooled down and the wind had picked up. I KNEW I should never enter water fully clothed, hair done on a cool evening with my husband! He had Addy in his boat with him and I had Brynn in my boat. I thought having Brynn would soften the water sprays...BUT NO! We all left the boats pretty wet! The girls loved it and we all had a great time.
We can't wait until Dad has another day off. At least it won't be another 11 months until the next day off since we're going on vacation in July :)

Updates

I know this is SO last week but I have to blog a little about Mother's Day! I do love being a Mommy and I love the fact that there is a whole day to celebrate something I love so much. I am so grateful that my Heavenly Father has trusted Todd and I to raise Adalyn and Brynnlee. We couldn't ask for more perfect little girls. Life is so good and I am grateful!

We were also the hosts for the family Mother's Day dinner. It was our first "to do" at our new house and it was so much fun to put together. There were 19 people and we fit everyone in just fine. I decided I really like planning this kind of stuff...I need to do more of it!

This was my Mother's Day gift. Now I can jam to my tunes while I cook and it doesn't take up any counter space! Thank you Todd and Girls!

Our little girls both had the flu this past week. (and yes, Addy's first throw up was in the middle of Walmart!) Ugh! One sick child is bad enough but two was not fun at all! Addy didn't get off the couch for a few days.

So after the evil flu invaded our house I was determined to send it to its grave. I went on a cleaning spree. Every single blind, baseboard, door, floor, etc, etc in my house is clean. My soul is at peace!
Brynn is becoming such a big girl! She knows exactly what she wants and is not afraid to tell you. She loves her family so much and adores Addy. She is also starting to understand when she is being funny! I love when she laughs! It really is the little things in life.

She is always trying to find something good in the fridge.

I thought this was a cute picture of Addy and her cousins.

My sister-in-law Amy and I have joined a soccer league. I am OLD! My bones are OLD! I have zero flexibility! But it sure is fun to go out there are play my little heart out! Amy even scored a goal on Saturday. YAY! I'll post pictures soon of us "in the action."

Two Requests for Death

St. George Marathon...here we come! Todd and I were picked in the lottery. This is a big deal for both of us because Todd has never run a marathon before and the last marathon I ran was in the summer of 2007.

I have two goals I want to accomplish. 1. Finish. 2. Train properly. I have never properly trained for any of the marathons I have previously run. I am hoping if I train properly I will be able to walk the day after.

143 days...and counting!

Farm Life

Today was a beautiful day so I took the girls to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. What a fun time! Addy loved looking at all the animals and especially loved riding the pony. Brynn wasn't too interested yet, but that is to be expected.

Brynnlee is BINKY FREE! I was so nervous to break her of this habit because I thought it would be hard, but it was easy. I just took it away cold turkey one day and it hasn't been an issue since. I really wanted to rid her of it before she turned a year old because I read she'll adapt quicker to the change. The only time I've wished for the binky was during church. She loves to make those little screams and babbles and the only thing that made her quiet was food!
Addy had a near-death experience. Yesterday the house got really quiet. I should have known something was going on but all of a sudden I heard a scream and a huge bang and then more screams! Addy had climbed her dresser to get her bracelets and the dresser tipped over on her! It was completely on top of her! Luckily, I have bulging biceps and the adrenaline was rushing so I was immediately able to pull it off of her. She said her wrist hurt but after some love she was fine a few minutes later. Scared me to death! So...our entire house will soon be bolted down!
