Dancing Addy

Addy LOVES to watch and look at herself posted on the blog. I told her we could make a video of her dancing and put in on the computer. She was very excited by this. Dance parties occur almost daily in our house and have become so much fun! I thought she would do fine dancing by herself but she got really serious and it was like she didn't know what to do without me with her! I decided to post this for two reasons. It was the best video I could get and her serious face makes me laugh. I'll have to get Todd to tape us really dancing!

On another note...I went to the dermatologist today to get some moles checked out. They were all fine but the doctor said he could remove any if they bug me. I only had a second to decide but I finally chose to remove one. I now feel like a little piece of me is missing...hopefully I can feel whole again soon! (really, I'm only kidding!)

January Fun

January usually goes by slow because the holiday rush is done and winter has set in, but so far it has gone by really fast for the Bassett family. I never blogged about Christmas but it was so fun and it was great to have Todd home for a few days! Addy loved her gifts but when she had woke up on Christmas morning she forgot that Santa had come and we had to remind her to go look at her presents!
Adalyn is now potty-trained! YAY! I have been trying to get her potty-trained for so long but finally it just clicked and it's been so easy! She really loves it when she gets Potty Parties. I mean really, who doesn't love Potty Parties?!? Another big step for Ads is her big girl bed! She loves it and we haven't had a problem keeping her in it at all. I can't believe how fast she is growing up. These are all little things, but to me they are HUGE!
Last night I finally got a real night of sleep! I don't know what to do with myself...I kind of feel rested! The girls share a room and so Brynn hasn't slept through the night in months. She would wake up at least 6 times a night and then finally end up in our bed so she won't wake up Addy. It has been horrible. Neither Todd nor I can sleep with kids in our bed. So, now that we have a toddler bed we put that in our room last night for Addy to sleep on and we let Brynn cry it out. She only cried for a little while and then she slept the WHOLE NIGHT! I am so thankful for the little miracles!
We are so excited for 2009. Each year gets better and better and I am excited for the new adventures and good times we'll have.

Brynn is all smiles and laughs these days...well, most of the time.

So cute!

Hawaii

The holidays are done and the horrid reality of winter has set in. It is now that I would give anything to go back to Hawaii!
I miss the Aloha Spirit, the sun, the beach, the hottest place in town...Chevron, watermelon ice cream at the Seasider, and of course the Bridge House and my 40 plus roommates while living there! I miss Culture Night and Song Fest, the Luau and serving Pineapple Delites at the PCC, Joke...the best teacher...I'm the shirt, not the butt! Walking across the street to take a dip in the ocean anytime of the day or night and Chocolate Haupia Pie.
These are only memories, but I appreciate each and every one of them and all the people I met along the way and I share these memories with. Hawaii will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope someday I can take my family there.
I always miss Hawaii but for some reason, I always miss it more in the dead of winter!
So please, if your day is blue (or snowy), sit back, turn up the volume and listen to a couple of my favorite "miss Hawaii" songs!
GOOD TIMES!

Love the Temple!
The many years of college spent here...on campus.

Hukilau Beach

Hukilau Cafe...the best french toast in the world.
(Elizabeth, remember when you called to order and they forgot you were on the phone for over 30 minutes so I finally had to drive down there and tell them you were still waiting! LOL!)

Happy Anniversary!

This post is dedicated to my husband Todd.

Today is our wedding anniversary! I want to thank my husband for all that he has done for me and all that he has given me these past three years. He truly makes me a better person and I couldn't ask for a more wonderful eternal companion. With two children in three years life has always been a little crazy but he is constantly my support and my rock. Thank you for working so hard and for being a wonderful husband and father. I love you and look forward to growing old with you.

Thanks for letting me sleep in this morning...that's the best present I could ask for!

Christmas - Part 2

Last night was one of those perfect nights! It had snowed all day but it cleared up in the evening so we went to visit Temple Square and see the lights. Like many people who live in Utah, the Temple Lights are one of our annual Christmas traditions. The snow was fresh, the girls were so happy, we found a parking spot right away and love was in the air!
Family photo!

This scene is placed on the reflection pool. I loved it.

Addy's lips are always sticking out in pictures because she's always saying "CHEESE!"

She was very serious about her cooking cutting!

Christmas Part 1

Everyone says that Christmas is great with a toddler, but I never knew it would be this great! Addy has been an absolute doll. She has loved every aspect of the season so far. The decorations, the tree, the lights, the stores, the treats, Santa, and the story of Christ's birth. She loves reading Christmas books and her favorite Christmas movie so far is The Grinch. She is definitely part Mosley! She also loves Christmas songs. She'll tell me "You better watch out..." and that is the cue to start singing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"!
Her sweet little heart is set upon a PINK kitchen. We have tried to tell her that Santa makes kitchens in all different colors...like RED, but her cousins have the best pink kitchen ever and it is making Santa's gift giving difficult! Hopefully when the time comes, the color won't matter too much.
We went to Thanksgiving Point to look at the lights last week. Brynn was sleeping so we let Addy sit up in the front with me. WOW! She was amazed. She told Santa "Hi" at least 50 times and I think my favorite line was when we were driving through the Candyland area when she said in a little sing-song voice "Hi Santa, bring me some treats to put in my pocket!"
On Friday we had the annual Bassett Family Christmas Party. Santa was definitely a high point. Ads jumped and screamed when he walked through the door. Ah, the magic of Christmas. It was a wonderful party and a big thank you goes out to Dustin and Kate for the great planning.
Like most people, I love this time of year. The opportunity to focus on the birth of our Savior, along with the love and kindness shown by so many truly touches my heart. I am grateful for such wonderful family and friends. Merry Christmas to you all.

Brynn was so happy!

Sometimes it just gets to be too much!

Brynn is the sweetest little bug!
Aunt Sari came to visit. YAY! Addy was shy at first but all it took was an "X Marks the Spot"
and Sari won Addy's heart! It was so good to see Sarah. We sure do miss her!

Fun, Fun, Fun

Last Wednesday I took the girls to the LIving Planet Aquarium. We went there last spring but now that Addy is older, and educated by the film Finding Nemo, she had a great time and was able to identify so much more. She really loved the ocean area.

Brynn was just hangin' out.

This was the little pond where she could touch fish and a stingray!

There are many moments when I am a proud mother, but lately I have been bursting with pride! Many of you know that I am a pretty clean person. Granted my house is not always perfect, but I definitely enjoy a clean, organized and, clutter free environment. As of late Ads has taken to pulling out the wipes and cleaning the fireplace tiles, her toys, the kitchen, and whatever else she may find. She always lets me know that she is cleaning. And I praise her. To top it off, the other day I was kind of in a rush so I told her to leave her toys on the floor and we would pick them up when we got back. She responded with a "No, I have to clean them up now!" I told her not to worry about it but she nicely insisted and proceeded to pick her toys up. I was so impressed at what a wonderful little girl she is I just had to help her. I'm a lucky mom! She is already so much like me...Todd would agree!
